Rules

bountybid is a public leaderboard. There are no ads, no API keys, and no revenue share. You pay to stand above everyone else, and half of what you pay becomes the bounty on your rank. Rank is the bid — nothing else.

How ranking works

  • New listings are whole US dollars, $5 minimum, $999,999 maximum, $1 at a time. Bids already on the board keep their amount until they raise or get outranked.
  • Taking #1 costs at least $5 more than the current top bid. Paying less still puts you on the board at whatever rank that bid can take. Equal bids stay in the order they were placed — the older bid keeps the higher rank.
  • Enter the same website or @handle again to raise that listing to any rank. The new bid must be at least $1 above your current bid; you only pay the difference. Someone else cannot take your rank by paying that difference.
  • A completed payment is what claims the rank. Positions and bounties are settled at the moment the payment lands, not when checkout opens.

How the bounty works

  • Half of your listed bid becomes the bounty sitting on your rank. It is shown publicly next to your bid.
  • When your bid passes a listing, you claim half of that listing’s bid — capped at half of what you would otherwise pay. It comes off your price at checkout, so you are never charged it in the first place.
  • Your listed bid on the board is the full amount, not the discounted one. Rank and the bounty on your head are both based on the listed bid.
  • The listing you pass loses nothing. It keeps its money and simply moves down one place. Bounties are funded by the new bid, never taken from anyone.
  • If your bid does not pass anyone — for example a fresh $5 listing joining the bottom of the board — there is no bounty to claim.
  • Because the cap is half of what you would otherwise pay, raising an existing listing by a small difference claims only a small bounty. The rule is the same for everyone.
  • The price you see at checkout is locked for 30 minutes. After that, start again to get a fresh quote.

What you can list

  • A product website, or an X @handle.
  • Chat and invite links are not allowed — Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Messenger, Signal, and similar. The board is for products and profiles, not group chats.
  • Links to sexual content are not allowed. If it is porn, NSFW, or an adult platform, it does not belong on the board.
  • Query parameters are stripped from listing links. Affiliate, referral, and tracking URLs will not work.
  • Link shortener URLs are not allowed. If you submit one, it is replaced by the URL it redirects to.
  • App Store, Play Store, GitHub, and similar platform links are keyed by their path, so different apps do not share a bid.

Clicks and stats

  • A click counts once per visitor per listing per day. Repeat clicks from the same visitor are not counted.
  • Visitor counting is cookieless. We store a salted, rotating hash of IP and browser, never the raw values, and nothing that identifies a person.
  • Known bots and crawlers are excluded from click and visitor counts.

Payments

  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card details.
  • Bounties are applied as a discount before payment, not as a refund afterwards. There is nothing to wait for.
  • Payments are non-refundable. Paying for a rank buys the rank, not a guaranteed number of clicks.
